Haiku man charged with Paia assault
A Haiku man is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail after being charged with assaulting another man in a confrontation over a bicycle in Paia.
Kekoa Magliato, 25, has pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree assault and third-degree theft.
A complaint filed in 2nd Circuit Court alleges that Magliato stole a bicycle in Paia on March 16. When the bicycle owner asked to get the bike back, he was beaten, according to police.
Magliato, who was arrested May 1, is being held at the Maui Community Correctional Center.
