Stroke awareness event set Monday

A free stroke awareness event called “Be Fast to Save Your Brain” will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Maui Memorial Medical Center, Maui Health System announced.

The event will include informational booths, gifts and prizes and feature guest speakers to discuss stroke risk factors and research. Attendees also can expect to learn how to identify stroke symptoms and get help quickly.

Stroke is a leading preventable cause of disability, according to the American Stroke Association. Spotting the signs of a stroke early and getting treatment fast can mean the difference between life and death.
