A state highways operator mows down weeds, shrubs and small trees on the far side of a Piilani Highway guardrail in Kihei on Tuesday morning. Highway crews are not using Roundup and are having a hard time keeping up with the weeds and vines encroaching on roadways following the wet winter and spring, especially in places like Ulupalakua, Haiku and Olinda.
