Staying fit, Dr. Tsuji celebrates 100

Dr. Fumio Tsuji celebrates his 100th birthday with friends, family and caregivers Friday afternoon at Roselani Place Assisted Living Community in Kahului. He was born in Hakalau, Hawaii island, in 1918, where his father was a Japanese school teacher. The energetic centenarian says he stays healthy by eating a simple diet and exercising. He also participates in an enhanced fitness class and walks daily. Tsuji helped found what is now Hawai’i Dental Service in 1962. In 1994, The Hawaii Dental Association honored him with a Distinguished Service Award. In 2005, the Maui County Mayor’s Office recognized Dr. Tsuji with the Michael H. Lyons II Palaka Award, and in 2010 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hawaii Dental Association.
