Bail was set at $5,000 for a man who was arrested after he was seen driving a stolen car last week in Kahului, police said.

Adrian Sugiyama, 34, was charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

He was arrested Thursday morning after an Advantage Rent A Car employee saw the stolen gray Hyundai Sonata being driven on Kaahumanu Avenue, according to police. The employee followed the car and called police, who pulled over the vehicle and arrested Sugiyama, who was driving, police said.

The car was stolen June 29 from the parking lot of the rental car company on Kele Street in Kahului.
