Sugimura ‘talk story’ includes 2 others

County Council Member Yuki Lei Sugimura will be joined by state Rep. Kyle Yamashita and Maui Metropolitan Planning Organization Executive Director Lauren Armstrong at her monthly outreach event from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Upcountry Farmers Market.

The “Talk Story with Yuki” event is at the Kulamalu Town Center, near Longs Drugs in the Kulamalu development.

Sugimura, who holds the Upcountry residency seat, will address county issues. Yamashita is the state House 12th District (Pukalani, Makawao, Olinda, Pulehu, Kula, Ulupalakua) representative and will be available to answer questions about state-related issues.

Armstrong will be on hand to provide an update to the community on the 2040 Long-Range Transportation Plan. The Metropolitan Planning Organization is a federally mandated group that coordinates with the state and Maui County to develop a Transportation Improvement Program for Maui.

Sugimura added that the Upcountry Farmers Market will be celebrating its eight-year anniversary. There will be live music and door prizes.

Sugimura holds her talk story events on the second Saturday of each month at the farmers market.
