Lilinoe Smith, 5, presses hard while tracing a picture at the Roots School table during Queen Ka’ahumanu Center’s Summer Festival, held Saturday to unveil the QKC Cares initiative. The festival featured Maui first responders, giveaways and family activities, including a “Touch a Truck” display and keiki IDs. QKC Cares is a comprehensive approach to community outreach to build and strengthen relationships between the center and the community. Lilinoe was tracing hard to transfer the scene to a piece of foil that she could later color.
