Hirano retires as MCCC warden
James Hirano retired as warden of the Maui Community Correctional Center, effective Friday, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
Major Deborah Taylor has been temporarily assigned as acting warden, also effective Friday, according to department spokeswoman Toni Schwartz.
Hirano had been warden since late 2010 after working in other jobs at the jail since 1992.
