Missed trash pickup is rescheduled

The Maui News

Residential trash collections missed on Wednesday due to Tropical Storm Olivia have been rescheduled for today and Saturday, the county Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division said.

For Maui, excluding Hana, the rescheduled pickup will be Saturday.

For Hana, Molokai and Lanai, the rescheduled pickup is today.

For manual collection routes, the department said to place no more than the maximum six containers of trash at the curb.

The closure of Lower Honoapiilani Road between Hui Road E and Puamana Place due to major flooding will disrupt residential trash pickup until the road is reopened. There will be no service today and possibly Tuesday, the county said.

The county Department of Public Works anticipates opening the road before the Sept. 21 pickup, the county said.

Affected residents are encouraged to drop off their trash at the Olowalu Transfer Station at no charge. The station is open from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
