Swing of a champion

First photo: Tavin Hashimoto, 9, sinks a putt in front of mother, Tammi, and uncle, Gary Barut, during Saturday’s Tavin Tuff Golf Tournament, which raised money for Tavin’s fight with cancer at Pukalani Country Club. The Tavin Tuff Golf Tournament helped raise money for the Doris Todd Christian Academy student, who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in March 2017. Tavin endured six months of chemotherapy and was in remission until doctors discovered the cancer had returned a year later. He starts his next round of chemo-therapy this week and will receive a bone marrow transplant after his treatment is completed. “Thank you to everyone who sponsored, participated and volunteered for this event,” Tavin’s father, Davin said. “It really means a lot to our family and Tavin.” To donate, visit www.gofundme.com/tavintuff2018.

Second photo: Hashimoto follows through with his driver Saturday afternoon on the 18th hole during a fundraiser for his battle with cancer at the Pukalani Country Club.
