Anuhea performs with her band during the Maui Paddle for a Cure party Saturday morning at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa. Anuhea was one of 100 or so stand-up, kayak and canoe paddlers who paddled in the noncompetitive event marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event also raised funds for Susan G. Komen Hawaii. The event presented by the Hyatt, The Butterfly Effect and Maui Jim featured 2-mile and 3-mile courses along the Kaanapali shoreline. The Butterfly Effect’s Tatiana Howard said Saturday morning’s rainy conditions could not dampen participants’ enthusiasm. “It’s still a perfect day even if it was raining,” Howard said. “Everyone had warm aloha spirit.” The Hyatt Regency will accept donations through October while also selling pink merchandise and offering Cabanas for a Cure.
