Wind advisory in effect
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Lanai, Kahoolawe and Maui through 8 p.m. today.
Northeast winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected, with localized gusts of 50 mph. Winds this strong could topple tree branches and cause localized power outages, the advisory said. Motorists, especially those in high-profile vehicles, are urged to drive with extreme caution.
