English receives some endorsements

Democratic state Sen. J. Kalani English has been endorsed by 13 organizations in his campaign for re-election to the 7th District Senate seat, which includes East Maui, Upcountry, Molokai and Lanai.

The organizations are: ILWU Local 142; International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 50; Hawaii State AFL-CIO; Maui Island Labor Alliance; Hawaii State Teachers Association; University of Hawaii Professional Assembly; Hawaii Regional Council of Carpenters; Hawaii Fire Fighters Association; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 1186; General Contractors Association of Hawaii; Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3; Hawaii Association of Realtors PAC; and Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest & Hawaii.

English, a resident of Hana, has served in the Senate since 2000. He’s Senate majority leader and has chaired the Senate Committee on Transportation and International Affairs and the Senate Committee on Energy and the Environment.

He’s a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools and has received advanced degrees in Pacific Island Studies from Hawaii Loa College, the East-West Center and the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
