Lahaina Rotary Club to host candidate forum

Mayoral candidates Elle Cochran and Mike Victorino will be featured during a candidate a forum hosted Tuesday by the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset.

The event will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Royal Lahaina Resort.

Forum topics will be specific to West Maui and include affordable housing, development plans and the environment.

The forum moderator will be club President Heidi Dollinger. There will be an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions.

The club will hold another forum on Oct. 16 with the candidates for the Maui County Council’s West Maui residency seats, Rick Nava and Tamara Paltin. That forum also will be held beginning at 5 p.m. at the resort.

Voters will be able to register for the Nov. 6 general election at the Oct. 2 forum. The registration deadline is Oct. 8.

West Maui group to host candidates night

West Maui voters will have a chance to see candidates for public offices in action, including mayor and West and South Maui state senator and West Maui representative, during a candidates’ night at 5 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Lahaina Senior Center.

The event is sponsored by the West Maui Taxpayers Association. Dinner will be served at 5, and the program will start at 5:30 p.m.

The center is at 788 Pauoa St. in Lahaina.

In addition to mayoral candidates and West Maui House and Senate candidates, the event will feature candidates for all nine Maui County Council residency seats.
