Israel expert to speak Sunday
John W. Swails III, a professor at Oral Roberts University, will speak at the Faith in Jesus Church in Wailuku at the 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. services Sunday.
Swails is a professor of history and director of the Center for the Israel and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma. He is a consultant for many ministries who are involved with organizations that minister for Israel.
His son, John Swails IV, will be teaching beginning Hebrew from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and July 6 and from 8 a.m. to noon July 1 and 8.

Special service set at Kula mission
The public is invited to experience a shortened version of the famous 745-mile, 88-temple pilgrimage on Shikoku Island in Japan. The service will take place at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Kula Shofukuji Shingon Mission, 113 Puanani Place. Participants will stand on sandbags from the original 88 temples and ask for blessings before 88 temple scrolls and deities. Lunch will follow the service.
