Anam Thubten to speak today
The Dharmata Foundation will present an evening with Anam Thubten from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Makawao Union Church. There is a $20 suggested donation.
Thubten will also lead a weekend retreat from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at a private estate in Haiku. The cost is $150. To register, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thubten grew up in Tibet and, at an early age, began to practice in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. He is the founder and spiritual adviser of Dharmata Foundation, teaching widely in the U.S. and abroad. He is also the author of various articles and books in both the Tibetan and English language.
Church seeks volunteer singers
Wailuku Union Church is looking for motivated volunteer singers of all ranges who believe passionately in the power of music to shape worship and transform lives. Practices are beginning for the Christmas Eve Cantata.
The WUC Choir also presents a broad range of choral repertoire in worship each Sunday throughout the year. Rehearsals are held at 6 p.m. Tuesdays at the church located at 327 S. High St. Potential volunteers should be able to commit to regular attendance.
