Maui Baha’i plan celebration

The Maui Baha’i community will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Baha’u’llah, the prophet founder of the Baha’i faith, from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku.

There will be a talk on Baha’u’llah, a video, music, dancing performances and a magic show. Winners of an essay contest will be announced. Light refreshments will be served. The public is welcome.

Ceremony set at Po’okela Church

There will be a groundbreaking ceremony for a parking lot paving project and other improvements at Po’okela Church at 10 a.m. Sunday after the 9 a.m. service. The ceremony will be followed by a potluck. Attendees are encouraged to bring a favorite dish.

Bible seminar begins Oct. 27

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kahului will host a Bible seminar about Christianity on Oct. 27 and 28.

Presented by the Voice of Prophecy, participants will travel to remote locations via film to learn about the dawn of the Christian faith, uncover the connection between the church and government power, then follow the 1,200 years that paved the way to Martin Luther’s Reformation.

The schedule is as follows:

• 6 p.m. Oct. 27 — Rome is Burning.

• 11 a.m. Oct. 28 — Barbarian Fire.

• 2 p.m. Oct. 28 — An Underground Movement.

The church is located at 261 S. Puunene Ave. Free child care will be offered for ages 3-10. A free book will be available while supplies last.
