Lenten devotions at W. Maui churches

Lenten devotions, which include an additional noon Mass Monday through Friday, will run from Thursday through March 28 at Maria Lanakila Church in Lahaina.

On Friday mornings during Lent, there will be Eucharistic Adoration from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Stations of the Cross will be at noon Fridays at Sacred Hearts Mission in Kapalua and 6:30 p.m. at Maria Lanakila.

The Parish Lenten Penance Service will be at 6 p.m. March 14 at Maria Lanakila.

Ash Wednesday Masses next week are at 7 a.m., 8:15 and 6:30 p.m. at Maria Lanakila and noon at Sacred Hearts Mission.

Lenten schedule set at Kihei church

Trinity Episcopal Church, located at 100 Kulanihakoi St. in Kihei, has announced its services for Lent:

• 7:30 a.m., Ash Wednesday. There will be an imposition of ashes and Holy Eucharist around the altar of the outdoor sanctuary next week. Vicar Bruce DeGooyer also will offer “Ashes on the Go” at Azeka Makai in Kihei between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.

• 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. each Sunday in Lent (Feb. 18, 25, March 4, 11 and 18). Lectionary Reflection Bible Study will be held in the church office. Coffee will be provided. The Holy Eucharist will follow at 9 a.m. outside in the church.

Trinity Episcopal Church is located within the ruins of David Malo’s historic 1850s church and is adjacent to the Lihue Cemetery, dating back to 1832.

Emmanuel Lutheran Lenten services set

Emmanuel Lutheran Church will be holding Ash Wednesday services next week and Lent services Wednesdays from Feb. 21 to March 21.

The Ash Wednesday worship and imposition of ashes begins at 6 p.m.

Lent services begin with a potluck at 5:30 p.m., followed by evening prayer at 6:30 p.m.

Emmanuel Lutheran is located at 520 One St. near the Papa and Kaahumanu avenues intersection.

‘Good News Wellness Event’ set

Mark DeBrincat, known as The “Good News Doctor,” from Gainesville, Ga., will be conducting a “Good News Wellness Event” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 in the Faith In Jesus Church social hall.

Session topics include “Healing from within,” “Gifts of the Earth” and “Brain Health.”

DeBrincat and his wife were in a car accident and recovered from their injuries, a church news release said.

This event is free, but reservations are required. Contact Yvonne Hughes at 244-1286. Faith In Jesus Church is at 432 Waiehu Beach Road in Wailuku, near Sack N Save.
