Evelyn Daniels Nunes, 98

Evelyn D. Nunes, 98, of Kula, passed peacefully into her new life with Jesus, on February 26, 2013, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on September 20, 1914 to Henry C. & Virginia J. Daniels In Puunene, Maui.

In her long and blessed life, she was a homemaker, housekeeper, caregiver for her family, avid gardener, outstanding cook & baker, and a prayer warrior. In World War II, she served as a plotter in the Women’s Air Raid Division (W.A.R.D.). She had been an active member of the Kula Roman Catholic Community in her earlier years. Her lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ created a deep joy and love in her heart and spirit; a love that she generously shared with others through her prayers, time, talents and gifts.

We invite everyone touched by her love to join us in a celebration of her life, to be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Holy Ghost Mission Church in Waiakoa, Kula. Visitation will begin at 8:30 am, with Mass at 10:30 am. Entombment will follow at Maui Memorial Park in Wailuku at 2:00 pm. Borthwick Norman’s Mortuary assisted with arrangements.

Evelyn is predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Manuel Correia Nunes.

She is survived by her niece & caregiver, Ione (David) Nobriga of Kula; daughter-in-law, Florinda Nunes of Lahaina; nieces, Jovena Daniels of Virginia, Yvonne (George) Cox of Wahiawa, Haunani (David) Valente of Mililani; grandsons, Charles Jr. (Angela) Nunes of Wailuku, Ernie (Melissa) Nunes of Lahaina, Manuel John (Shirley) Nunes of Kula and George (Donna) Nunes of Wailuku.
