Harold Leroy Edward Rawson, 98

Born Harold Leroy Edward Rawson, Sept. 8, 1914, in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada, he immigrated to the USA in 1917. He served in the merchant marines, and the US Navy. He married his sweetheart, the late Elizabeth Miller, with whom he shared the next 63 years. They moved to Oahu in 1960 where he worked for the US Weather Service. In 1994, he moved to Kula, Maui, and has been cared for in Hale Makua, Kahului for the last 3 1/2 years.

Harold is survived by his daughter Linda (Frans Lamers) Manoll; son Ron (Isabella) Rawson; grandchildren Guy and Paige Rawson, and Lisa and Lance Racoma; 5 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandsons, (and a great great granddaughter on the way). Harold was loved by all for his gentle, unassuming ways, and cherished by those of like faith as a Jehovah’s Witness elder. He was “Papa” to many and will remain in our hearts always.

A memorial service will be held Sat. March 9th at 4:30pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Kokomo St., Haiku. Visitation will be at 3:30pm.
