Setsuyo “Sue” Tanabe, 87

Setsuyo “Sue” Tanabe, 87, of Hilo, Hawaii, died Nov. 17, 2013, at her home.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 7, 2013) at Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, 398 Kilauea Ave., with a memorial service at 10:30 a.m.

Dodo Mortuary is assisting with the arrangements.

Mrs. Tanabe was born Oct. 31, 1926, in Hilo, Hawaii.

She was a retired school secretary for the Hawaii State Department of Education.

She is survived by a son, Ronald (Sharon) Tanabe; two daughters, JoAnn (Frederick) Wong and Gwen (Guy) Kimura; three brothers, Kwanichi Yuda, Shimei (Agnes) Yuda, and George (Kayleen) Yuda; a sister, Kay Murashige; two grandsons, Scott Wong and Randall (YiLing) Wong; a great-grandson, Makiya Wong; numerous nieces and nephews.

“Sue” was a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Buddhist Women’s Association and Gojikai, Anela Street Kumiai and HGEA.
