Kazuichi “Kazu” Hamasaki, 95

Kazuichi “Kazu” Hamasaki, 95, of Wailuku, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Services honoring Mr. Hamasaki will be held at Wailuku Hongwanji Mission on Friday, September 22, 2017. Visitation will begin at 4:00pm, with services beginning at 5:00pm. Please, no flowers.

Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements.

Mr. Hamasaki will be honored on Oahu at Honpa Hongwanji on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 5:00pm.

Kazu was born on May 2, 1922 in Wailuku, to Kijiro & Oyoshi Hamasaki. After graduating from St. Anthony in 1940, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team–Company G. Upon his return, he earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Social Work. He would later become the administrator of State of Hawaii, Department of Social Services and Housing, served on the Board of Directors at Hale Mahaolu Ehiku II.

In1954, he married his love, Mrs. Grace Izuo and together they raised two children and have been long-time, faithful members of Wailuku Hongwanji Mission.

Mr. Hamasaki leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of over 63 years, Mrs. Grace I. Hamasaki, son, Mark (Mariza) Hamasaki; daughter, Teri Hamasaki; and granddaughter, Ashley Hamasaki.
