Donald A. Wallace Sr., 80

Donald A. Wallace Sr., 80, of Haiku, passed away peacefully at Maui Memorial Medical Center on November 19, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Services honoring Mr. Wallace will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Friday, December 1, 2017. Visitation will begin at 10am, with services beginning at 11am. Mr. Wallace will be laid to eternal rest at Maui Memorial Park at 12:30pm. Nakamura Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.

Donald was born in Paia on February 23, 1937 to Raymond & Ann Wallace. He was the eldest of 8 children. After graduating from Maui High School in 1955, he went on to study various trades, such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing and was also a master technician, he was a true “Jack of all trades”, even building 6 homes on Maui from the ground up. In 1957, he married the love of his life, Eltness “Lei” Plunkett, and together they raised 5 children. Donald had a special love for hunting and fishing, which he lovingly instilled in each of his children and enjoyed sharing with them and later, his grandchildren as well.

Mr. Wallace was the Fire Captain serving over 25 years with the Maui County Fire Department before his retirement in 1994.

Donald leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 60 years. Eltness “Lei” Wallace; sons, Donald A. Wallace Jr., Daniel (Lucia) Wallace & Clarence (Diana) Wallace; daughter, Sonya (Frank) Kuamoo; 13 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Robert (Libby), Patrick (Marilyn) & Dennis Wallace; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
