Katsuichi Yoshino, 84
Katsuichi Yoshino, 84, of Kula, passed away peacefully at his residence under the care of Islands Hospice on October 12, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Services honoring Mr. Yoshino will be held at Kahului Honowanji on Sunday, November 19, 2017. Services beginning at 4:00pm. Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
Katsuichi was born in Lahaina on May 24, 1933 to Yoshiro and Hanayo Tanaka. He was the 6th of 11 children. He moved to Oahu and worked on an Aku boat with his older brother, Haru and met his wife through his brother in law that also worked with him on the boat. He also worked as a washer and dryer repairman, owned his own coin operated machine business.
Katsuichi retired with the state as a Correctional Officer for Maui Community Correctional Center to help raise his grandchildren. He always joked that it was the “Best job with the lousiest pay”. He loved to spend time with his grandkids and spoil them.
Mr. Yoshino is predeceased by his wife, Lillian Kimoto Yoshino, son, Galen Yoshino, sisters Sumiko, Yoshie (Hideo) Kamimoto, brothers Haru, Nobu, and Kazu Yoshino; survived by his daughter, Jasmine (Rolyn) Domingo; grandchildren, Jaelyn and Rielyn; siblings, Tsuru (Roy) Hoshide, Kameo (Mely) Tanaka, Kikue (Nobuo) Kanemoto, Joe (Barbara) Tanaka, and Kathleen (Mark) Miyakawa.
