Kenneth Joseph Kagawa, 76

Kenneth Joseph Kagawa, 76, of Hilo, formerly of Lahaina, Maui, died Nov. 12, 2017 at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu.

Visitation from 9-10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo; funeral service at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. Casual attire. No koden (monetary gifts). No flowers. Dodo Mortuary and Hosoi Garden Mortuary assisted with arrangements.

Born in Lihue, Kauai, he was a retired teacher for Lahainaluna High School on Maui where he was employed for 31 years. He was also a retired president and treasurer for Lahaina Federal Credit Union and member of Lahaina Kamaaina Fishing Club, Hawaii State Teachers Association and Retired Teachers Association.

Kenneth was predeceased by parents Kaoru Kagawa and Mary K.C. Ching Kagawa, sister Kathleen Kagawa Yoshishige, nephew Brian Takeshi Yoshishige and niece Iris Yoshishige.

Kenneth is survived by wife, Kay Hirayama Kagawa of Hilo; daughter, Kandice Kagawa of Waipahu, Oahu; son, Kent (Rochelle) Kagawa of Hilo; grandchildren, Kassandra Kagawa of Hilo, Kennison Kagawa of Tacoma, Wash.; and brother-in-law, Takeshi Yoshishige of Kapaa, Kauai.
