Frances R. Kikumoto, 86, of Makawao, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2017, under the compassionate care of her loving daughters and Hospice Maui.
Services honoring Mrs. Kikumoto were held privately.
Frances was born in Ovett, Mississippi to Marion & Celia Pitts. She was the 9th of 12 children. After moving to Nevada, she met and married her lifetime love, Mr. Sam Kikumoto, and together they raised four children, David, Rebecca, James and Jeanette.
Frances worked for the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club, where she worked as a waitress in the Los Angeles Police Academy Café for many years. Frances loved her job and made many life-long friends.
After retiring, the Kikumoto’s made their dream of retiring to Maui come true, where they shared many beautiful years.
Frances enjoyed everything she did, she had an incredible zest for life. Some of her favorite past times were checking out yard sales, and thrift stores. Frances was an amazing cook, and loved to bake. She will be remembered for her delicious fried chicken and her wonderful cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies. She had an amazing green thumb, loved her garden, and plants and enjoyed being active in her church, St. Johns in Kula.
Friends and family will remember her as a generous, kind and outgoing woman who could make a friend out of a stranger. She set an example of acceptance, love and kindness and shared that love with all who knew her.
Mrs. Kikumoto was predeceased by her husband Sam, who passed away in August 2016. Frances leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children, David (Nanette), Jim (Karin), Rebecca & Jan Kikumoto. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Charles, Molly, Christian, James, Jamie and Kevin; (14) great grandchildren, (1) great grandchild; her (3) surviving siblings Billie Jean, Donald and Donnis, nieces, nephews & many friends, all who loved her dearly.
