Akio “Aki” Aotaki, 88

Mr. Akio “Aki” Aotaki, 88, of Lahaina, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2018, under the compassionate care of Hospice Maui and his loving family.

Services honoring Mr. Aotaki will be held at Lahaina Jodo Mission on Friday, February 9, 2018. Visitation will begin at 4:00pm, with memorial service beginning at 4:30pm.

Aki was born on September 24, 1929 in Lahaina to Hachiemon & Iwano Aotaki. He was the 5th of 8 children. After graduating with the Lahainaluna class of 1946, he went on to further his education eventually becoming an electrical contractor with Lahaina Electric Co.

In 1969, he married his love, Shizue Arai, and together they raised two children. In his time off, Aki always had a few projects going on, he was a hard worker and wonderful provider for the Aotaki family. He also enjoyed working in his yard, and spending time with his two grandchildren.

Mr. Aotaki is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mrs. Shizue Aotaki; son, Ken (Yumi) Aotaki; daughter, Lani Chadli and grandchildren, Yasmine & Liam Chadli. He is also survived by his sisters, Kiyomi Yano, Kazumi Hanzawa, Miyoko Aoki & Sakae Uehara.
