George Yoshio Tengan, 75

George Yoshio Tengan of Waikapu, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2018. He was born on August 3, 1942 in Puunene to Kenjiro and Hatsue Tengan who preceded him in death. He had 75 wonderful years with his family, including his loving wife of 52 years, Karen, and children, Kyle (Donna) Tengan and Lena (Phernell) Walker. He was a proud grandfather to four girls, Kaitlyn Tengan, Lauren Yee, Korrie Tengan, and Rachel Yee. George is also survived by his siblings Mary (Robert) Shimabukuro and Kenneth (Suzie) Tengan.

George attended Kahului School and Baldwin High School. He later served in the United States Army and attended UH Manoa (Accounting). After serving as Fiscal Officer and Deputy Director of the County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply, George was appointed to the position of Director of the County of Maui Department of Water Supply in 2003. After he retired, George spent his time playing slack key guitar and sanshin, golfing, singing karaoke, and acrylic painting. Many of the painting George created over the last 15 years will be exhibited at his memorial services.

Please join his family to celebrate the blessed life of George Tengan on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Faith in Jesus Church in Wailuku. Visitation with his family will begin at 8:30 am and services will begin at 10:00 am. Burial will commence at the Maui Veterans Cemetery in Makawao at 1:00 pm. His family requests no flowers.
