Roys A Ellis III, 74

Roys A. Ellis III (AKA Terry; AKA Aussie) died on January 31, 2018, from complications of diabetes on Maui, Hawii, where he had lived for most of his life. He was a graduate of The Governor’s Academy, South Byfield, MA serving as Captain of Football, Basketball and Baseball in his senior year. He was actively scouted by the Boston Red Sox’s of this outstanding ability as a pitcher. He attended Harvard College, Cambridge, MA.

He was employed as a Captain by Flying Tiger Airlines and flew into Vietnam many times in that capacity. He was a manager for HC&S Sugar as well as Pioneer Mill in Lahaina and later managed ordinance clean up on Kahoolawe. Terry was a very bright multi-talented man whose greatest pleasures were playing golf, sailing, reading, drinking beer and enjoying a joint. He enjoyed an unconventional life style.

He was predeceased by his parents, Roys A. Ellis Jr. and Marjorie Brown Ellis and his younger brother, Jeffery Belknap Ellis. He survived by his older sister Susan Ellis Van Etten Lawson of Wenham, MA and his youngest brother, James Brown Ellis of Apple Valley, CA, a nephew, Derek Van Etten, Jr. of Londonderry, NH and a niece, Ashley Van Etten of Narragansett, RI and two grand-nephews, Duncan Owen Van Etten and Rhys Adams Van Etten of Londonderry, NH.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday March 10, 2018 at Ballard Family Mortuary from 8 am to 10am. Service at 9:30. Family request no flowers.
