Terry Seichi Sakaitani, 87
Terry Seichi Sakaitani, 87, of Kahului, peacefully passed on to his eternal home on February 16, 2018, under the wonderful care of Hospice Maui. He was laid to rest at Maui Veterans Cemetery in Makawao.
Terry was born on May 22, 1930 in Puunene and grew up in Spreckelsville. He served as a rifleman in the Korean War in the Army’s 7th Division, receiving the Purple Heart for serious wounds sustained during combat. He then earned his undergraduate degree and served as a medical technologist at the Maui Memorial Hospital for many years. After his retirement in 1985, he went on to work part-time at Kaiser Permanente.
Terry was always kind-hearted and humble. He enjoyed traveling with Kinue, playing golf at Waiehu, composing humorous poetry, and having fun with his grandchildren.
Terry is survived by his loving wife Kinue Sakaitani, sons Keith Sakaitani, Kyle (Sally) Sakaitani, and Kris (Grace) Sakaitani, and grandchildren Leah, Kellen, and Noah. He is also survived by sisters Judy Magarifuji and Jenny Yamamoto, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
