Mildred “Millie” Tsuyuko Uchima, 89

Mildred “Millie” Tsuyuko Uchima, 89, of Hilo, Hawaii, passed away at her residence in Hilo, Hawaii on May 6, 2018. She was born in Pepeekeo, Hawaii on September 9, 1928 to Yukichi and Toku Nakasone. She was a retired teacher and Librarian at Hilo Union School. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Hui Okinawa, and Church of the Holy Cross and volunteered as a docent at the Pacific Tsunami Museum in Hilo.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo, Hawaii from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with memorial service to begin at 5:00 p.m.

Dodo Mortuary, Inc. in Hilo, Hawaii assisted with arrangements.

She is survived by sons: Lester (Roxana) Uchima of Hilo and Cory (Lynne) Uchima of Pukalani, Maui; sister: Amy Shiroma of Hilo; grandchildren: Domonick Uchima, Kristen (Jake) Doolittle, Trenton Uchima and Bryson Uchima; great-granddaughter: Annabelle Doolittle; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
