Elizabeth Chavaria Pagan, 94
Elizabeth Chaveria Pagan was born on April 7, 1924 in Makawao, Maui. She graduated from Farrington High School and worked for the Dole Cannery on Oahu.
In 1959, Elizabeth moved back to Maui to marry the love of her life, the late Joseph “Boy” Pagan. Together they raised their children, Joseph “Joey” Pagan, David Pagan Sr., Michael Pagan Sr., Frank Bernard, Leonard Pagan Sr., Gwendolyn Bernard, and Clifford Pagan.
On Maui, Elizabeth worked as a foreperson for Maui Land and Pine, and in her retirement worked for the State’s Department of Education as a cafeteria helper. Elizabeth also loved her Puerto Rican heritage and was known for making “the best” pasteles.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends, who will remember her as a generous, kindhearted, God-fearing woman, who loved to laugh, dance, and enjoy life alongside her friends and loved ones.
Visitation and services will be held at the St. Rita’s Church in Haiku on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.
