Peter Chaminade Kapena Lum, 68
Peter Chaminade Kapena Lum, 68, of Lahaina, Maui, passed away on January 8, 2019 at Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku with his family by his side.
Peter is survived by his wife, Ginger, his sisters, Heila (Joe), Elaine, Bernadette (Roy), Carol, Mamo, his brother, Richard (Mary), his brother in law Gay (Kehau), his sister in laws, Rowena (Conrad), Jamie (Bobby), children, Kealii, Kapena (Abby), Keone, and three grandchildren.
Peter was born to Landis and Elaine. He and his 13 brothers and sisters were raised in Pearl City. Peter worked at the age of 9 at 50th State Television with his hanai father, Tom Woo. He also worked at Terminal Transportation and Ko’olau Brewing Company in Honolulu. Peter and Ginger raised their young family close to Peter’s ohana in Pearl City/Waipahu, Oahu until they moved to Lahaina, Maui to be closer to Ginger’s ohana. On Maui, Peter then worked for Roberts Hawaii Tours, and the Hyatt Regency Maui. Peter then became a valued member of the Starwood family, working at their Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas (KOR) property. Here, he helped to create the transportation shuttle system for KOR and the other Starwood properties until his retirement. He loved spending time and helping his family and friends.
Peter formed a loving relationship with his heavenly father, Jehovah, and was baptized on November 3, 2013. He enjoyed learning and teaching the Bible in the Hawaiian language to his neighbors and friends.
Funeral Services for Peter Lum will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lahaina, 1181 Front Street, Lahaina, HI 96761. Visitation is at 10:00 a.m. Funeral discourse is at 11:00 a.m. Per the request of the family: no flowers or arrangements, please.
