Bad choice for a career

There are some really bad jobs in the world. Low pay, lousy hours, shouting bosses.

But we read this week about a guy who must have the worst job in the world. He gets eaten alive by snakes. On purpose. Where is OSHA when you really need it?

The man’s name is Paul Rosolie. Sunday, the Discovery Channel will air a special called “Eaten Alive.” In this show, Mr. Rosolie will be devoured by an anaconda.

Now, one would assume that such a job would be a one-shot deal. How many times can snakes eat the same guy?

But, Mr. Rosolie is giving interviews to Entertainment Weekly after the show has already been filmed so, who knows, maybe this will burgeon into a full-fledged career.

Mr. Rosolie explains that he wore what USA Today calls a “carbon-fiber snake-proof suit.”

In a video accompanying the USA Today article, Mr. Rosolie admits that, at first, the giant snake wasn’t interested in eating him. So, then, he decided to provoke it. That worked.

“She nailed me right in the face and the last thing I saw was her mouth wide open before everything went black. And then she wrapped me and I felt the suit cracking and my arms ripping out of their sockets. It was absolutely terrifying.”

Animal rights backers have criticized Mr. Rosolie. They are concerned for the snake.

We’d think a more appropriate group to criticize Mr. Rosolie would be the American Psychiatric Association.

There simply has to be a better career choice than anaconda appetizer.
