Democratic Party leaders don’t apply rules equally
Timing is everything, as we recently celebrated one of America’s icons who worked toward a free and equal society in the United States.
Equal protection under the law and rules that govern our citizens are protected by our government.
The reaction by the Maui Democratic Party leaders clearly demonstrates that rules do not have to apply equally to anyone who may be serving our community (The Maui News, Jan. 19). Further, that person will be in a position to review laws that govern us.
As a newly minted Democrat, I am deeply concerned if the leaders of our party fail to recognize a simple philosophy of equal protection under the law and rules that may govern our communities.
A re-evaluation of asking yourself why you are in a position to serve our community may be in order.
