Dangers of herbicide should result in its ban
Atrazine, a controversial but commonly used herbicide in the United States, is associated with a growing number of health issues and is often found in rivers, streams, groundwater and drinking water supplies.
Atrazine causes sex changes and other hormonal problems in amphibians such as frogs and toads, and has been linked to low birth weights and serious diseases in humans.
The chemical has been banned throughout the European Union since 2004, and in individual countries for more than a decade earlier.
A growing number of Americans are wondering why we are still using it here.
