Hotels are finally being challenged on beach use

I am so excited someone is taking on the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea and questioning the Department of Land and Natural Resources (The Maui News, Feb. 23).

Why can the hotels have so many chairs, umbrellas, etc., on the beach? That is what Dana Naone Hall wants to know. She, along with Malama Kahakai, has filed a complaint in 2nd Circuit Court to stop the Four Seasons from taking a public portion of Wailea Beach for its guests.

This could set a precedent for other hotels. Let’s follow this and see what happens. I’m sure it will be very interesting.
