Pedestrians too have a responsibility for safety

I am a resident of Kihei, have been since 2009. As I completely understand the importance of the safety of pedestrians crossing South Kihei Road, I would like to make a suggestion.

If you are walking, running, riding your bike, etc., along South Kihei Road, I would assume that the pedestrians would automatically assume some responsibility of their actions. However, just because you as the pedestrian have the right of way doesn’t mean that you are able to walk right into a driveway or crosswalk without even looking for cars. I continue to see many people crossing roads without even a look to see if anyone is coming.

The rules for pedestrian safety do go both ways, let all of us remember that.
