Robbery suspect’s attitude portends more trouble
Two of the beliefs to which I really make an effort to adhere: We are innocent until proved guilty and do not judge a book by its cover.
Both adages were severely tested as I looked at the photograph of Richard “Ricky” Vance on the front page of The Maui News (Feb. 27), one of the two charged with armed robbery of First Hawaiian Bank in Pukalani. Vance appears unconcerned, bored, disinterested and apparently sleeping through a court hearing on a very serious allegation.
I acquiesce to my failing – as what I see is a young man inexorably headed down the road to becoming a career criminal.
