Traffic mismanagement cause of frustration
The comment from the Maui Police Department that the March 4 road closure caused Maui residents to be upset is off the mark (The Maui News, March 6).
The public understands that critical and fatal accidents require proper investigation.
The anger is from MPD mismanaging the traffic on South Kihei Road after directing everyone there. They needed officers at the major intersections and Mokulele Highway, assisting motorists with traffic flow to keep everyone moving.
Having spent three hours parked on the lower road and seeing MPD drive up and down the streets is what created everyone’s frustration and anger – not the road closure.
