Mixing of students causes resentment and envy
First of all, I would like to give big ups to the young girl who firmly stood up and put herself in harm’s way to protect her peer who was being picked on by a group of bullies (The Maui News, March 10).
It is inspiring to see such courage and strength from children, while sad that this is the environment they have to navigate when they’re supposed to be learning letters and numbers, having fun and being a kid.
Second, I would like to ask why are special-needs kids in the same school as the others? Students are being shorted and deprived of the teachers’ attention, leading to resentment and envy. Neither the teachers nor the bullies are the culprits here as the article implies.
