Hike in vehicle registration fees extortion

Until vehicle registration fees are back to a reasonable level there should no new spending or hiring, only cuts and layoffs.

I have been forced to pay more than $1,000 in fees just to register my three 10- to 23-year-old cars. This is extortion. The only reason for auto registration is to know who owns what cars and to make sure they are safe and insured.

In today’s world of everything being kept track of by computers, these registration fees should be way less than in the old days of manually maintaining these records; $10 to $15 a year is all it actually costs these days to keep tabs of our autos. Any charge over that is fraud and must be stopped and these overcharges returned to our citizens before the county even thinks of increasing its spending.
