St. Anthony students are worth bragging about

Watching St. Anthony students thrive this year has been a great joy.

I don’t have kids of my own, but as a proud, active board member and alumni of St. Anthony, I can’t help but brag that each of our 21 impressive young men and women of the senior class has been accepted to college. Collectively, they have garnered more than $2 million in scholarships.

This makes four years in a row that 100 percent of St. Anthony graduates have been accepted to a college or university.

I know this group of students will join a long line of successful business, civic and spiritual leaders who graduated from St. Anthony.

St. Anthony is here to stay and is proving it. Enrollment is growing and our entire community has shown support during our match fund drive as we strive to empower students with a quality, 21st-century education. Our students are just the best. (OK, that’s an opinion, but that’s how I feel.)

Now, go forth, mighty class of 2013. Do Maui proud and never forget your roots. You are an important part of our ohana and always will be. Please come back and visit. And always strive to pass it forward in the future.

Thank you, St. Anthony graduates, parents, faculty and supporters.
