Earth, wind, sun keys to meeting energy needs

The Maui News’ “Today’s Editorial,” many of them, over the years command respect. The publisher is serving the public well – fairness, facts, vision and substance are omnipresent.

“A final solution” (June 24) is a case in point, although some primate glued to that gerbil wheel might find it superfluous to be reminded that the combination of earth, wind and sun is the way for our energy needs.

After all, let’s not reminisce, oh no. Chernobyl, Three Mile Island, the recent Japan catastrophe, current Washington state mess, all nuclear disasters, the Exxon Valdez, the Gulf, etc. But that was such a long time ago.

The comic strip “The Wizard of ID” (June 24) perhaps best explains our 21st-century Neanderthals’ priorities: “With this potion here, I came close to curing cancer. . . . But there was way more demand for my magic hair tonic.”

In certain circles, Mr. Bill O’Reilly (Opinion, June 24), there is an abundance of religion without principles with charismatic leaders and uncontrollable greed and fiscally irresponsible waste – a crusade of follies.
