Wal-Mart committed to giving back to community

I’m celebrating my one-year anniversary of returning to Maui and proudly serving as the store manager of Kahului Walmart, and I wanted to say mahalo to our community for supporting not only me but also our talented associates.

I could hardly have imagined 12 years ago when I started working as an hourly customer service manager at our Maui Walmart that I would be back on the island as the store manager.

I’ve had a great career at Walmart and the amazing thing is that so many of my fellow associates across Hawaii and the Mainland can tell a similar story of rising through the ranks, taking advantage of the many opportunities Wal-Mart offers, and carving out a satisfying career that has benefited me, my family and my community. I’m proud that our company has taken the time to share more experiences just like mine at therealwalmart.com.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is the opportunity I have to be part of Wal-Mart’s commitment to giving back to our community with grants and donations. I encourage Maui County nonprofits to apply for our next cycle of 2013 Hawaii State Giving Council grants. Details are at foundation.walmart.com.
