Chickens, roosters don’t belong in urban areas

I cannot agree more with a July 12 letter writer regarding feral chickens. In fact, I would like to see legislation outlawing roosters and chickens in urban neighborhoods altogether.

Roosters are not pets and they are mainly raised for illegal cockfighting. They are very noisy and disruptive to neighbors.

Currently, there are laws addressing loud barking dogs but there is no legislation regarding noisy birds.

Roosters should only be allowed on properties that are zoned for agriculture.

Tougher fines should also be levied when people are caught at cockfighting events.
