Dirt from cane fields blankets Kihei residents

Ah, once again it’s time to be covered in dirt.

North Kihei acts as a sieve for the rest of Kihei. We eat it, inhale it, sleep in it and wear it. Bad chemicals in our bodies.

Everyone complains of the smoke and ash but, for me, it’s dirt whenever the trades blow.

Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co. doesn’t have to wet down the dirt like construction crews do on projects. Its attitude is, “Eat my dirt.” If HC&S really cared it would figure out ways to contain the dirt. Then the people of Kihei would be a much happier lot.
