Possible charter violations demand investigation

It sounded like Council Member Don Couch wrote the July 7 editorial, “Wasting time and money.” It contained the same nonsensical blather that he mouthed at the County Council meetings, along with a few hissy fits.

The accusation that council members were calling for an investigation because of political reasons was unfair. I could accuse the publisher of The Maui News of defending Couch and Mayor Alan Arakawa because they are all Republicans but that, too, would be unfair.

There appears to have been several violations of the County Charter. There also has been testimony before the council to that effect.

Council members have taken an oath of office to uphold the County Charter. They have no alternative but to investigate.
