Providing quality care in Hana is a labor of love
To support and improve the culturally unique quality of life of the Hawaiian East Maui communities by working to provide charitable dialysis treatment and health care services is the mission of the grass-roots 501(c)(3) nonprofit Hui Laulima O Hana.
Since the opening of Hale Pomaika’i doors in April 2009, loved ones continue to receive the utmost quality of care. Governed by a voluntary board of directors, staff and the many hands-on volunteers, it is truly a labor of love.
While focus on loved ones in dire need of dialysis is a priority, collaborating with an Akahi Wellness nurse practitioner is helping the hui’s mission by providing education, prevention and wellness programs to the community. We are hopeful that these essential programs will help many from needing dialysis in the near future.
On July 13 is our annual kokua fundraiser on site of the Hana dialysis home. The time of the event is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free. There will be live music, free lomilomi, health screenings, food booth, arts and crafts, games, a clown, baked goods, silent auction, lucky drawings and a special tour of the nation’s first-of-its-kind communal dialysis home.
Thank you to the county, state, Liberty Dialysis, outgoing board members, sponsors and Madge and Bruce Schaefer for their ongoing support.
