Charter school portrayed unfairly by headline

Reading the Aug. 24 front page, I was dismayed with the headline. It seemed to single out the Kihei Charter School, painting it in a negative light. When you read the article, you see that the negativity is misguided.

Kihei Charter is a valuable asset to the south side and offers a unique education experience. It does not treat school as an assembly factory but rather gives the students a level of confidence they may not find in other schools in the county.

The headline should have read “Strive HI program shows improvement needed in some area schools, others perform with high marks.”
